The book is a valuable source of information for scholars, students, and anyone interested in the history of the Mykolaiv region.

The head of the regional center for search research and editorial and publishing activities, Serhii Makarchuk,donated the book "Violence against the civilian population. Mykolaiv region. Documents of security agencies. 1941-1944" to the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi.

Serhii Serhiiovych Makarchuk – scientist, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, researcher of the history of Ukraine of the 20th century. Author of over 60 scientific works. Carries out work in the Mykolaiv region on the national scientific and documentary projects “Rehabilitated by History”, “Book of Memory of Ukraine” and on perpetuating the memory of the participants of the ATO/JFO. Laureate of the Mykola Arkas Prize in 2018. He is one of the authors-compilers of the donated publication.
 
The collection includes acts of commissions to establish and investigate crimes committed by the Nazi occupiers and their accomplices during World War II. The documents testify to large-scale war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during 1941-1944 in the Mykolaiv region, as well as to the particular cruelty and sophisticated technologies used to exterminate Jews during the Holocaust.
 
According to the author, in addition to our library, it can be found in the Mykolaiv Regional Universal Library and the State Archives of the Mykolaiv Region.
