Ukrainian embroidery is a genetic code, a talisman, and a symbol of unity for our people. As a rule, craftsmwomen absorb knowledge about this ancient form of decorative and applied art with their mother's milk.
The love for it among many Ukrainian women is passed down from generation to generation.
For the first time, Halyna Kukurovska decided to show her own towels, paintings, unique pillowcases, tablecloths, napkins and runners to the townspeople. 20 works in the cross-stitch technique are exhibited in the library-branch №9 of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi.
"Everyone embroiders. Since childhood, embroidery has been the most important thing for us. When people had very beautiful wall hangings, we always had towels on the walls. And we looked at their patterns, their beauty. Those flowers, poppies, cornflowers. They grow in our Volyn. Something what it is. It's in the soul. We convey that in embroidery," says Halyna Kukurovska.
In each drawing, pani Halyna puts her own mood, her own thoughts, warmth and love. And in Halyna Kukurovska's family, they love and respect folk songs. The artist herself is a soloist of the folk choir "Zorianytsa" of the Palace of Culture "Molodizhnyi".
"Since 2009, I have been familiar with the family creatively, through creative cooperation. I'm wearing a work of art by Halyna Kukurovska. This butterfly is not the only one created by the hands of a charming woman who can not only know how to embroider. But also she can sing," shares Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Sychov.
To the thunderous applause of the audience, the author of the exhibition brightly performed the songs known to all Ukrainians "Two Colors", "Chornobryvtsi" and "Roses on the Platform". In the enchanting sounds of the violin and guitar, a Ukrainian song was also performed by the family duet of the head of the Ukrainian song ensemble "Free Cossacks" of the Mykolaiv Regional Philharmonic Society Fedir Sychov and Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Sychov. Colleagues from the Zoria-Mashproekt plant and poets of the literature association "Stapel" came to support the public figure and talented craftswoman.
