He is visiting the Hero City for the first time. But he has had such a goal and desire for a long time. The city has become dear to the heart and soul of the talented author and photographer. Pan Vitalii was especially struck by the beauty of Mykolaiv temples.
The writer figuratively calls the neighborhoods, houses and hotels, damaged by enemy shelling, deep wounds on the body of Mykolaiv, which should certainly be recorded for future history and for providing a legal assessment of the actions of the occupiers. He does not yet have his own equipment. He lost it in the war. And all his time is now occupied by literary activity.
"Yes, these are historic times. I was still taking photos during the ATO. I took ten thousand pictures in three years. They are in the state archive with a note to keep forever. They are in several museums in Ukraine, Europe, and Canada. This is history, this is important. This is our sad reality. In any city," emphasizes the photographer.
The author has eight books to his credit. Vitalii Zapeka approaches his writing career according to the principle: "No one has the right to forbid a writer. Write as much as you have inspiration. At the same time, it is a sacred duty to readers to publish as few books as possible."
"The less you publish, the more qualitative it will be. There will be no graphomania. When you hesitate - this novel or this one. You choose the best one. And now, so that there is no temptation, that I write for myself. Somehow to take it there and publish it. I don't write ninety percent, but I write the ending. That's enough for me. I know that it won't be published. If some publisher persuades me to publish it, I'll start writing but then get over it and stop," the author notes.
Pan Vitalii was encouraged to write books by readers of his posts under the photos on social networks. The future writer published descriptions of the photos in the comments. Although everyone involved in filming knows: it is aerobatics when a single photo is already a complete story.
There were not enough connoisseurs of his photographic talent to do only a capture frame. At some point, Vitalii Zapeka did not shrink from paying more attention to writing and literature. The new business brought more and more pleasure. In the creative piggy bank of the writer there are books for adults and children.
"It's more difficult for children, much more difficult. It's more difficult with children there. There's a completely different worldview. And to tell them something to make the child better, smarter after reading it, and so it to be crazy and funny, very interesting and very difficult," says Vitalii Zapeka.
Two of the three novels written by Vitalii Zapeka have already been published. The author himself is missing something in the third one. The writer thinks about this all the time. Although he is inclined to think that his last creation is hardly worth finalizing for publication. At least not yet.
The meeting at the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi took place in a friendly, even cheerful atmosphere. In his characteristic humorous and satirical style, Vitalii Zapeka shared with the audience memories of everyday life in the army, talked about the heroes of his own books. At the end of the creative evening, a queue of people was waiting to get an autograph from the honored guest.
