The event brought together everyone eager to explore the Ukrainian artistic tradition of vytynanka (papercutting).

A vytynanka is much more than a decorative piece. It is an ancient Ukrainian art form where meticulous cutouts gradually form a complete visual story, transforming a plain white sheet into a lace of light, peace, and hidden wishes. Throughout history, these works adorned homes during winter holidays, bringing warmth, harmony, and a sense of protection.

The image of the Angel holds a special place in this exhibition. In Olena Markytan’s work, these figures are created with such delicacy and precision that they seem to glow—as if radiating a soft presence and silent protection. Each angel has its own character and story, weaving naturally into the library's winter atmosphere.

Olena Mykolaivna Markytan is an experienced educator and artisan who works with various materials, creating handmade dolls and decorative compositions. She is a frequent participant in city and regional exhibitions and a recipient of the "Star of Culture of Mykolaiv" honorary award.

During the opening, pani Olena held a masterclass, demonstrating how a simple sheet of paper is born into a papercut angel—fragile, yet full of meaning.

We sincerely thank everyone who joined us!

The exhibition will be open until the end of January.
