The exhibition of creative works "Children of Kherson. The World Through the Eyes of Hope" opened at the "Marko" Center for Modern Reading
This exhibition is a special event. It is more than just drawings. It is the world seen through the eyes of children: through their dreams, memories, pain, faith, and happy moments. The presented works are part of an important and heartwarming project "Ukraine Unites Hearts," which the Marko Kropyvnytskyi Central Library of Mykolaiv joined in the fall of 2025. The project operates on a charitable basis and unites children through creativity, patriotic and socio-cultural events, and workshops.
The authors of the works are students of the Educational and Training Complex №48 of the Kherson City Council. Today, they live in various cities across Ukraine, including Mykolaiv, as internally displaced persons, but they look forward to returning home with hope.
Each work is a sincere story full of strength, warmth, and hope. Some of them were created back in 2022—under the conditions of the occupation of Kherson. Their brightness is all the more striking because of this.
Maryna Kolokot, the local project coordinator and a remedial teacher at ETC №48, greeted the children, parents, and guests of the event to loud applause. Together with Yehor Korniienko and Azamat Khazhyn, the poem "Ukraine is You" was recited.
Natalia Bil, head of the Education Department of the Kherson City Council, and a representative of the recruiting department of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade joined in the greetings. A pleasant surprise was a painting created by Lesia Saikovska, a master of the "Art-Spokusa" Cultural and Artistic Association, which was gifted to the military.
The library also thanked the family of Diana Nezhevelo for their special contribution to the development and active participation in the "Ukraine Unites Hearts" project events.
The festive atmosphere was complemented by a dynamic physical activity session and a creative workshop titled "Bloom, My Native Ukraine." Under the guidance of Maryna Kolokot, the children created a 3D floral composition—a symbol of life, rebirth, and love for their native land. Each flower became a reflection of children's dreams, hope, and faith in a peaceful future.
We invite everyone to visit the "Marko" Center for Modern Reading to see these sincere and touching works with your own eyes!
