Hanna Polovenko is the author of the novel "Liberation: A Kherson Ballad", published by "Vydavnytstvo". During the event, they discussed the story behind the creation of the book, as well as the real-life fates of Kherson residents who endured the russian occupation or still remain in the temporarily occupied territories.
These are the stories of people whom the author listened to attentively, later passing their experiences and feelings on to her characters. In this way, personal testimonies became the foundation of a fictional narrative about occupation, human resilience, and the longing for liberation.
A significant portion of the print run of "Liberation: A Kherson Ballad" novel was destroyed in a fire following russian strikes on the "Nova Poshta" terminal in Mykolaiv.
We hope that the book will reach its readers as soon as possible and that the library will have its own copy.
The meeting was moderated by Hanna Uliura, who helped unveil the story of the novel's birth and lead a discussion on how real human fates become literature.
After all, behind every such story is someone's life, pain, hope, and a memory that cannot be erased. And the book gives these voices a chance to be heard.
