On October 27, the Day of Ukrainian Literacy and Language, Ukrainians around the world united around the word once again by writing the 27th All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity.
This year, due to safety reasons, we did not announce the writing of the Radio Dictation at the library. Therefore, we are especially pleased that the Central City Library has already become a traditional place where people come to write the dictation on their own — without invitations or additional announcements.
Today, representatives of the Patrol Police Department in Mykolaiv Region, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Region, the National Guard of Ukraine, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Region, as well as service members of the 30th Marine Corps, librarians, volunteers, and everyone who wished to join this tradition came to the library.
Before the dictation began, a military chaplain led a joint prayer for Ukraine, our defenders, those who protect our freedom today, and for peace in our country.
And then — silence, sheets of paper, pens, and the Ukrainian word.
The Radio Dictation is not just a literacy check. It is an opportunity to pause for a few minutes, listen attentively to the Ukrainian word, and feel a connection with thousands of people who are doing the exact same thing at that very moment —writing in Ukrainian.
Because language is our voice, our memory, our culture, and what continues to unite us.
