Traditionally, on the eve of Easter, Ukrainians decorate their houses, prepare various dishes, later they will bake fragrant Pasky (Easter cakes) and paint colorful Pysanky (Easter eggs).

There are several types of Easter eggs that can be made with your own hands in a family or friendly circle, or together with a child: pysanky, krashenky, driapanky, krapanky and maliovanky.

Thanks to the cultural and artistic association "Art-spokusa", regular visitors and readers of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi have the opportunity to touch ancient Ukrainian traditions, learn about signs and symbols. In particular, how to make pysanka-travlenka.

"The name Travlenka because a drawing is etched layer by layer with the help of vinegar. In this way, the colors of the primary color of the shell are created and preserved under the wax. Then the color is etched more and more with vinegar. In general, there are many types of Easter eggs. It all depends on what kind of decoration and what techniques are used by craftswomen in creating them," says Valentyna Kryvtsova, head of the Cultural and Artistic Association "Art-spokusa".

According to the ancient beliefs of Ukrainians, pysanka was endowed with magical powers. It brought prosperity and happiness, abundance and health, protected the family from all evil. Therefore, it was possible to paint it only in a good mood and with positive thoughts.

"Our great-grandmothers and grandmothers made Easter eggs. Unfortunately, there was a period when our mothers did not make them. But now we are reviving all this. And of course people, ordinary peasant women did. Therefore, we already educated people should do it simply normally and without any difficulties. And all our girls managed with it.

Today we also made an ancient Easter egg. But it is unusual because it is not a multi-colored Easter egg, but made on a brown, ordinary, natural chicken egg. As a result of the fact that we etched this color gradually, two or three possible colors appear on that Easter egg. That is, from dark brown to almost white. All this gradually appears on pysanka", - shared the honored master of folk art of Ukraine Tetiana Uliankina.

Today, pysanka is considered the main heritage of Ukrainian culture. Our national outlook, traditions of the past, elements of nature and light are encrypted here. The more each of us makes pysankas, the more love and goodness will reign around.
