Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi is the main library of Mykolaiv Centralized library system for adults (CLS). It is one of the largest publicly accessible cultural institutions, a significant information and socio-cultural center of the city. It is an administrative and methodological center, which involves 26 libraries.

It also includes 4,000 rare and valuable publications of the XIX-XX centuries, about 300 titles of periodicals, a collection of local history publications, audiobooks, a number of book collections which are unique for the Mykolaiv region. The library creates its own electronic databases, has a large electronic catalog of books available on the site.

Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi conducts significant work to promote books and reading, preserves local culture and positions itself as a library of civic action. It also ranks the "third place" in the urban space and is the city center of non-formal education for adults. The innovative activity of the library has been repeatedly noted at the international and national levels.

The library has comfortable service halls with original interiors. The premises are adapted for reading books, communication, training and recreation of citizens. Automated Customer Service is also provided in the library. There is an Internet Center, Wi-Fi Zone, Virtual Reference Service, Electronic Reading Room, Hall of Electronic Periodicals, Center for Social Activity and Partnership, Sensory Library, Coworking Space, and the like. There is an Art Expositions Zone, Literary Museum in Potiomkinska St., Literary Musical Living Room in Potiomkinska St., Summer Reading Room. According to the draft of Civil Budget 2019, a Literary Square is laid out on the territory nearby the library.

In order to meet the most diverse information needs of citizens there are Internet Centers, Information Consulting Services Network for Accessing E-government Services - Citizen Service Centers, Online Audience for People with Disabilities (library branches №5,12,18 ), City Center for Environmental Information and Culture (library branch №2), Coworking Space for joint meetings, study and recreation of citizens "We are a circle!" (library branch № 12), Hall of Bulgarian Literature "Bulgarian Chitalishte" (library branch №16), Local History and Information Center “Korabelnyi District" (KIS KRAY, library branch №18), Interregional Resource Center for Children and Youth Organizations of the Korabelnyi District of Mykolaiv and Vitovskyi District of ​​the Mykolaiv region (library branch №18), Historical and Local History Hall of the Matveevka’s residential district (library branch № 21), Cultural and Art Drawing Room "Ukrainian world" (library branch №18), Coworking Zone of Local Study “A tree of family and region ”(library branch №18), computer literacy courses, language courses and the like. Mykolaiv citizens can attend more than 40 clubs and circles of interests as well as creative associations.
